50% - Software Engineering::
Manage and participate in the following activities:
** Work with product and project management in determining the feasibility, scope, and priority of new requests.
** Propose alternate solutions that may better meet the customers or bcgi's internal needs
** Write, review and provide feedback on SOWs, BRDs, FSDs, TSDs, CDDs, and DDDs
** Develop, test, package and release software
** Work with Design team located in the corporate office in the US
** Participate and contribute towards the creation software designs
** Prototype solutions as proof of concept
** Provide input into the development and evolution of the bcgi's software architecture.
** Assess new technologies and architectures
15% - Project Management::
** Coordinate software development activities within team
** Manage resources within team and develop schedules for each software release.
** Identify and track software development milestones and timeline for each release
** Provide project management with release dates and status information.
** Analyze planned vs. actual project data to identify improvement opportunities and implement these opportunities.
15% - Resource Management::
** Communicate project status and resource requirements to Manager
** Conduct weekly or bi-weekly team meetings to review team objectives and issues
** Clearly convey corporate priorities to focus personnel on essential tasks.
** Monitor weekly/monthly time allocation for employees within team
** Monitor employee productivity and work to maintain high employee morale and enthusiasm.
10% - Process Management::
** Participate in establishing, maintaining and improving processes within the Software Engineering organization.
** Ensure bcgi software development methodology is employed within team.
** Ensure project time-management and defect resolution data is captured accurately for all software components within team so accurate metrics may be obtained
** Monitor production issues/defects to improve product quality
10% - Organizational Support::
** Provide support for business development activities
** Provide cost and resource estimates to project management
** Provide support for production operations teams as required
** Provide support to other development teams as required for inter-team software development projects.
** Participate in establishing, maintaining and improving processes within the Software Engineering organization.
** Ensure bcgi software development methodology is employed within team.
** Ensure project time-management and defect resolution data is captured accurately for all software components within team so accurate metrics may be obtained.
** Monitor production issues/defects to improve product quality
Desired Profile
Required Qualifications::
** B.E, B. Tech., MCA, M.Sc. (CS) or equivalent from a recognized university or institution.
** 10+ years experience in the software industry designing, implementing and supporting multiple software projects/products.
** 3+ years managing a team of software professionals.
** Demonstrated ability to lead a software engineering effort and proven track record for delivering software releases on time.
Specialized Skills::
** Excellent analytical skills and sound programming ability.
** Strong written and verbal communication skills.
** Experience utilizing some or all of the following technologies: Operating Systems (Windows NT/XP/2003, UNIX flavors), J2EE Technologies (SOA, BPEL, EJB, spring, Hibernate), Eclipse IDE, XML/SOAP, Application Servers (JBoss, OAS, Weblogic), Databases (SYBASE, Oracle 10G).
** Experience on any SCM Tool like CVS, Perforce etc.
** Experience in object oriented analysis and design (OOAD) concepts and design patterns.
** Demonstrated ability to create proto-type applications and make recommendations on deployment architecture.
** Strong people management skills ( i.e. ability to motivate, encourage and support )
** Ability to understand and re-factor the existing product design.
** Experience with a major relational database management system.
** Ability to deliver production quality software on-schedule.
** Ability to grasp technical concepts and communicate them to others.
** Able to fit in well within a fast paced and innovative environment
** Establish credibility with smart engineers quickly.
** Experience in the Telecommunications industry is a plus.
